A mission born from loss and hope
The story of how Mindscape Health came to be, and why we're committed to transforming mental healthcare in Kenya.
Why we started Mindscape Health
At Mindscape Health, everything started with a deeply personal loss. Our CEO, Brandon, lost a close friend to suicide — someone who fought to find help but was met with countless barriers in Kenya's mental health system.
With only one mental health professional for every 450,000 people, pervasive stigma, and a system stretched thin, mental health challenges often go unseen and untreated. That loss was the spark that ignited a powerful mission: to ensure no one else loses a loved one because mental health support wasn't accessible.
Mental healthcare, accessible to everyone
Our goal is simple yet profound: to make mental healthcare in Kenya — and across Africa — accessible, affordable, and culturally relevant for everyone.
Bridging technology with culture and compassion
We believe technology is a tool to empower, not replace, human connection. That's why Mindscape uses cutting-edge AI to match individuals with therapists who truly understand their unique needs.
- Connects users with certified therapists based on specialty, cultural background, and preferences
- Provides therapists with secure tools for communication, scheduling, and patient management
- Offers AI-driven self-help features like journaling and personalised talk therapy
- Delivers content in English and Swahili, reflecting Kenyan culture
- Expands access through mobile-friendly and web platforms with corporate dashboards
Listening to our community
From the start, we've prioritised listening. Through early testing, interviews with therapists, and surveys with users, we uncovered what really matters.
- Strong demand for culturally sensitive, multilingual content and personalised support
- 64% cite cost as a barrier; 22% are concerned about privacy
- 55% willing to pay KES 500-1,000 monthly via subscriptions
